A LOCAL'S GUIDE TO SOUTH CAROLINA'S
BEST KEPT DINING SECRETS
by Brian Katonak and Lynne Katonak
Every county in South Carolina has at least one restaurant that is a favorite of the locals. The authors visited every restaurant recommended by the locals and included almost all of them in this guide. Included are unique restaurants that are locally owned and are not part of a chain or franchise. Many of the restaurants are off the beaten track and therefore not readily discovered by outsiders.
This guide is organized into state regions, then set up
alphabetically by county in each region. Eighty-six restaurants are
reviewed. Each review begins with a basic listing of pertinent
information--owner's names, highway directions, hours of operation, special menu
availability, etc.--for quick reference. The remainder of the review is
dedicated to the history of the business and the food that is served.
Restaurants included in the book run the gamut from greasy spoon to elegant
dining. Menus range from hot dogs to gourmet.
